Friends' Projects

Find out about some of the projects funded through Chiswick House Friends' donations

In the House, Friends' donations over the years have included contributions towards a Nollekens bust of the 5th Duke of Devonshire, a significant sum towards the purchase of the two magnificent Bosun and Guelfi pier tables and in 2007 their gift of £15,000 at short notice secured at auction the spectacular contemporary view of the House by Pieter Rysbrack.

In the Gardens, the Friends were major contributors to the restoration of the Coade stone vases in the Conservatory and the restoration of the Cascade and replacement of the stone lions on Stavely Road Gates. More recently they played a big part in the restoration of the Rosary and creation of a new stone copy of the Medici Venus which graces it as well as the repair of the statue of ‘Ishmael in the Wilderness’ in the Conservatory.

Their assistance extends to practical matters like providing tools for our garden volunteers and an electric buggy to help the Park Wardens get around the park more easily, especially in bad weather. Their support has also helped Chiswick House and Gardens Trust  launch the Education Service and secure additional site staff.
