Chiswick Café Wins Civic Trust Award

The Café has been recognised with a prestigious 2011 Civic Trust Award for its outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment

The Café at Chiswick House and Gardens designed by architects Caruso St John has been recognised with a prestigious 2011 Civic Trust Award for its outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment.

From 333 national and international entries 27 winners were presented with awards by Civic Trust Awards Patron, architect and TV presenter George Clarke at a ceremony held at the People’s Museum in Manchester on 4 March.

Judges described Chiswick House Café as 'enigmatic and timeless', and said 'The new, subtle and sophisticated café forms an integral part of the regeneration of Chiswick Gardens. The excellent, robust architecture provides a contemporary reinterpretation of classical principles.'  The café's exterior arcade of Portland stone is praised for its 'fastidious and tactile' detail and it's providing 'shifting views from within which exaggerate the beauty and celebrate the garden'

Chiswick House café is open everyday throughout the year.
