Chiswick Café News
The Café will open in February and will be run by Company of Cooks after a competitive tendering process.
Chiswick House Café will open in February 2010.
The new Chiswick House Café has been designed by award-winning architects Caruso St John and will offer a relaxing modern space with stunning views of the house and gardens.
Company of Cooks will be running the Chiswick House Café following a competitive tendering process. Amongst their other cafes are those within RHS Gardens, Wisley; the Imperial War Museum, London; the Southbank Centre; and Kenwood House on Hampstead Heath.
Mike Lucy, the owner of Company of Cooks, explained his approach, 'I believe in menus that feature an honest approach, simplicity, seasonality and quality. The café has been specifically created for the residents and families of Chiswick where customers will find our food and drink interesting, wholesome and seasonal, and our service warm and friendly. Our emphasis is to offer an attention to detail that will ensure local residents return and recommend us to their friends.'
The café will seat up to 80 people with additional outside tables. It will serve a wide range of refreshments during the day as well as catering for private functions in the evening.
Delicious seasonal menus at reasonable prices will be the order of the day with dishes such as a salad of River Farm smoked chicken, watercress and orange, top quality coffee from Union Coffee Roasters; and weekend lunch specials such as a hot roast pork sandwich with sage butter.
A wonderful new playground is also being built adjacent to the café and there will be a wide range of dishes, including macaroni cheese and fresh orange jelly, to refuel exhausted children.
Sarah Finch-Crisp, Director of Chiswick House and Gardens Trust described the opening of the Chiswick House Café as 'a landmark event - with the new facility providing an irresistible all year round destination within the beautifully restored gardens.'
