Project Update October 2009
The reopening timetable and schedule of opening dates during the landscaping work.
The programme of works will be completed, as planned, in early 2010.
This important landscaping work requires large areas of the park to be closed off and we are very grateful to park users for their patience and co-operation.
Schedule of opening dates
Café - the new cafe will open in Spring 2010
Car Park – this is now open, but will need to be closed again towards the end of this year for approximately 6 weeks while works to the car park entrance from the A4 are carried out.
Conservatory – restoration work will be completed by the end of the year.
Italian Garden – this will remain closed as work will be carried out here until the end of the year.
Northern Wilderness and Rosary – this area will open on 16th November. This is a bit later than planned because of archaeological works to find the route of the 19th century carriage drive and to allow time for new paths to settle before they can be used. Access to this area, through the Rustic Gate entrance, from the car park will be possible from 16th November.
Terrace – this will re-open when Burlington Lane Gate re-opens in about five weeks.
Entrances to the park
Burlington Lane Gate – this gate is closed while path surfaces are replaced and they settle in before they can be used. This should take five weeks.
Great Chertsey Road Gate – is open but will be closed periodically for painting.
Park Road Gate – is open. A new metal gate will replace the current gate.
Rustic Gate - will open for visitor access between the car park and Northern Wilderness on 16 November. Car park users will need to access the House and Gardens via the nearest alternative entrances - Dukes Avenue Gate from the A4 or Park Road Gate.
The opening of other areas will be communicated in due course.
