Memorial Trees

The gardens at Chiswick House are a grade 1 listed historic landscape as well as a public park.  Because of the garden’s heritage status, there are restrictions on tree planting.  Because of this we are not able to offer memorial trees, and plaques on trees, in the gardens.

Scattering of Ashes

Because it is such a special place, the Trust receives frequent requests to allow ashes to be scattered in the gardens.  Unfortunately, whilst we understand completely why people would wish to do this, we regret that we do not allow it.  These ashes contain high-levels of minerals which would damage plants and wildlife.  For obvious reasons therefore, we have to apply this policy consistently.
