News from the Walled Garden

Restoration work will commence on the walled garden at the end of 2008.

At the end of this year work will commence on restoring the walls and garden features within the Southern Walled Garden and to convert the derelict Northern Walled Garden into an orchard.

Sadly that means that Kitchen Garden activities including school visits will not be held in 2009 for reasons of public safety, although the Trust will review these constraints by June 2009 to see if they can be relaxed. However the Kitchen Garden volunteers themselves will be able to continue looking after the garden they have created so beautifully, while restoration works take place.

The Kitchen Garden Volunteers have recently won a prestigious Green Corner Award for their inspirational work at cultivating a kitchen garden at Chiswick. The prizes are awarded to ‘green corners that make the capital a brighter, greener and healthier place to live and also enrich the biodiversity of the capital. Congratulations!
